The adipose tissue is a complexe and heterogenic organ composed by different cell types (adipocytes, precursors, immune cells, endothelial cells,…). In addition to its energy storage function, the adipose tissue plays an major endocrine role. It secretes numerous factors named adipokines as well as chemokines and inflammatory cytokines regulating the activity of several organs in human body.
At DIVA Expertise, we focus on the different functions of the adipose tissue (energy storage, endocrine, mechanical, thermogenic) by developping new experimental models allowing us to better determine the link between adipocytes and peripheral organs.
